Vocena: Real‑time Captions for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS
Vocena transforms any audio playing on your Mac, iPhone or iPad into live captions, whether it’s a YouTube video, a Zoom or Teams call, an online class or a podcast. The app also captions microphone input or both sources at once, all without installing plugins.
How It Works
Captions appear in a floating window that overlays other apps, letting you keep working. Speech recognition runs locally on Apple Silicon Macs using the open‑source Qwen model, so there’s no time limit.
Scenes
Vocena offers six preset scenes—Standard, Lectures, Meetings, Watching, Conversations, and Dictation—that you can switch between with a single tap or click.
iPhone and iPad Support
The app brings the same floating‑window feature to iOS, plus Dynamic Island captions when you switch apps. On iOS 27 it can caption audio playback without using the microphone.
Pricing
